these yokai monsters were created using 3D scans of garden scraps donated from gardeners at the christian herter community garden. The monsters embody the spirit of the garden concerned with managed decomposition, and the printed totems are used in a yearly compost ritual I created after exploratory interviews about gardening and compost with CHCG gardeners. the monsters come with a short guide to the monsters’ “natural history” as a part of the kit.
